Pacific Electric Wire & Cable (Pacific Electric) has played a foundational role in powering progress. As Taiwan’s first wire and cable manufacturer, the company has grown alongside the region’s infrastructure, supporting the movement of power, energy, and information across cities, industries, and communities throughout Asia.

Over 75 years

Pacific Electric has continuously evolved its capabilities, expanding from local manufacturing into a regional and global presence. Its solutions have supported critical national infrastructure, large-scale industrial systems, and complex energy networks where reliability, safety, and performance matter most.

1950s

Pacific Electric was founded in Taipei, laying the groundwork for Taiwan’s modern wire and cable industry.

1959

Manufacturing operations expanded and relocated to Sanchong, supporting growing domestic demand.

1964

Established its first overseas subsidiary, Sigma Cable, in Singapore, marking the beginning of international expansion.

1967

Introduced CCV power cable manufacturing equipment, advancing high-voltage cable production capabilities.

1971

Invested in Charoong Thai Wire & Cable Public Co. Ltd., strengthening regional presence in Southeast Asia.

1977

Daxi Plant was established, further expanding manufacturing capacity.

1983

Adopted Southwire’s SCR continuous copper rod process and commenced production, enhancing material quality and efficiency.

1995

Established Pacific Electric Wire & Cable (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., extending manufacturing operations into China. Established Australia Pacific Wire and Cable Co., Ltd., expanding into the Oceania market.

1996

Formed Asia Pacific Wire & Cable Co., Ltd. (APWC), consolidating regional operations and growth.

1997

Participated in the Taiwan High Speed Rail Alliance, contributing to the development of national infrastructure.

2002

Began supplying the majority of wiring systems for Taipei 101, one of the world’s tallest buildings.

2011

APWC was successfully listed on the Nasdaq, reinforcing its international market presence.

2016

Completed construction of the Yangmei Plant and relocated headquarters, establishing a new operational hub.

2018

Achieved IATF 16949 certification for enamelled wire products, meeting global automotive quality standards.

2020

Successfully developed rectangular enamelled wire for electric vehicles and obtained certification from European automotive manufacturers.

2023

Became Taiwan’s first and only onshore extra-high voltage cable supplier certified by Ørsted.

2024

Passed IEC 62067 certification for 345 kV XLPE cables, witnessed by KEMA. Obtained IEC TS 62893-4-2 certification for liquid-cooled EV charging cables, certified by TÜV Rheinland. Jointly established United Aluminium Co., Ltd. with Taya Group, China Wire & Cable Public Co. Ltd., and Jay Chuan Electric Wire & Cable Co. Ltd. Entered collaboration with Sumitomo Electric to introduce vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) system technology. Received the 33rd Taiwan Excellence Award for the High-Efficiency Rectangular Wired Stator for EV Motors (Platform OD220).

2025

Celebrated Pacific Electric’s 75th anniversary. Achieved Taiwan Power Company certification for 345 kV XLPE power cable
