Overhead Aluminum Conductors

Aluminum conductors used in overhead lines are lightweight and cost-effective. When stranded with steel or aluminum-clad steel wires, the tensile strength of aluminum cables can be significantly enhanced, providing excellent economic value for engineering applications. These conductors are widely used in overhead power transmission and distribution lines, as well as in the terminal of electronic components and enameled wires.

Key Features

All Aluminum Conductor (AAC)

  • Higher conductivity and lower cost compared to copper cable of the same weight.
  • Lightweight and easy to install.
  • Suitable for overhead transmission and distribution lines, and ground wires and feeder wires of railways.

Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR)

  • Excellent tensile strength for overhead installation.
  • Longer span installation in uneven areas.
  • Suitable for long-distance overhead transmission and distribution lines, including river crossings and rocky areas, as well as ground wires and feeder wires of railways.

Aluminum Conductor Aluminum-Clad Steel Reinforced (ACSR/AW)

  • Similar structure to ACSR with high tensile strength and lighter weight.
  • High corrosion resistance and higher conductivity than ACSR, resulting in lower power loss.
  • Suitable for long-distance overhead lines and coastal areas, industrial zones, saline lands, and volcanic regions.

Specification of ACSR/AW

Compliance Standards: ASTM B549, TPC A048

Thermal-Resistant Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced (TACSR)

  • High tensile strength for installation.
  • Longer span installation in uneven areas.
  • Transmission capacity is 1.4–1.5 times that of ACSR.
  • Suitable for long-distance overhead transmission lines and ground wire and feeder wire of the railway.

Thermal-Resistant Aluminum Conductor Aluminum-Clad Steel Reinforced (TACSR/AW)

  • Same structure as TACSR with high tensile strength and lighter weight.
  • High corrosion resistance and higher conductivity than TACSR, resulting in lower power loss.
  • Transmission capacity is 1.4–1.5 times that of ACSR.
  • Suitable for long-distance overhead transmission and distribution lines in coastal areas, industrial zones, saline lands, and volcanic regions.

Super Thermal-Resistant Aluminum Conductor Aluminum-Clad Steel Reinforced (ZTACIR/AS)

  • Same structure as TACSR with higher tensile strength and lighter weight.
  • High corrosion resistance and higher conductivity than TACSR, resulting in lower power loss.
  • Transmission capacity is 1.6–2.0 times that of ACSR, with lower sag and smaller outer diameter.
  • At the same outer diameter, sag at 210°C for ZTACIR/AS is equivalent to sag at 75°C for ACSR.
  • Suitable for high-capacity, low-sag overhead transmission and distribution lines, and mainly used to replace existing ACSR or ACSR/AW conductors.
